The Centre for Plasma Theory is a joint initiative of the School of Mathematics and the School of Physics and Astronomy. We do research and support training in plasma physics and related topics, from fluid models to kinetic theory, with applications in nuclear fusion and astrophysics.
Our work comprises theoretical plasma physics and mathematical methods including optimisation, data-driven approaches and machine learning, to develop and test models and tools for understanding plasma behaviour.
